How We Created This: Named after a child’s game of stacking horizontal and vertical planes to arrive at a balanced construction, we were commissioned by an Italian manufacturer to design a room divider and bookshelf.

The open sides create a horizontal emphasis, while the solid shelves with angled front edges taper to a fine line.

The vertical folded aluminium panels are used to order space, as well as add individuality. This increases the stability and introduces a playful aspect to the arrangement of the panels, allowing a multitude of different configurations.

We designed the brackets for the vertical elements to be reversible so the shelves could be placed against the wall or in the centre of the room, allowing it to be used from both sides.
