Our Story

Everything we do starts with an idea, it’s not easy, but we try and make the best thing we know, significantly better.

In 2003 an idea led Carl Holloway to form Holloway Foo. Our aim is to place you at the forefront of design, take you on a journey and to arrive at useful, usable and desirable building spaces that add commercial and emotional value through thoughtful design.

More than a decade on and Holloway Foo is an award-winning, RIBA chartered, talented, open and friendly practice providing assured confidence, expertise and projects that have a tangible impact on people’s lives.

Holloway Foo Story

Carl’s Journey

Carl’s journey to become an award-winning architect started when he was a young boy.

His father was managing director of a successful national construction company, so as well as playing building blocks Carl saw real buildings come to life first hand.

“My father’s drive to create quality things along with his fascination with detail is my inspiration. It became my drive to become an architect.”

When he was 18, Carl went into architectural practice gaining experience of designing and managing projects from the drawing board through to completion.

“My fascination to work and re-work things until they are refined gave me a great knowledge. This grounding allows me to consider the project from start to finish, deliver it successfully and with an excellent level of detail. All this gives the client assured confidence.”

His hard work and dedication led him to being named Birmingham Post Young Construction Sector Personality of the Year in 2006, just three years after founding Holloway Foo.

Award winning

Carl uses his experience and expertise in developing educational, residential and public buildings in his role on the review panel for MADE.
