Planning approval secured for high quality housing

What we delivered.

We have successfully secured planning permission for 14 high quality new build apartments upon a complex site within the local centre of Cotteridge.

We recognised that the site holds a central position within the local area and holding a prominent position opposite the Cotteridge Church and the local Victorian fire station. Our proposals are designed to be a contemporary interpretation of local character.

What was the initial brief ?

At the end of a predominant victorian high street this complex site has various influencing factors and constraints.

Our brief was to work in tandem with our client and the local planning authority to identify the best potential for this site in order to release the financial and local values for the site

How we did it?

The process allowed us to reveal the historical character of the local area.

Our design response is to recognise the rich heritage of Victorian architecture through brickwork detailing and to provide a contemporary interpretation for this.

This led to carry out feasibility investigations as to development for this site and developing a number of layouts that created high quality and unique living spaces in a variety of sizes.

After settling on ideal layouts we secured planning approval for the project and prepared detail design to facilitate its careful conversion.

What were the planning departments views ?

” Holloway Foo was praised for overcoming challenging constraints – from planning restrictions and an awkward site in an urban location – and through the clever use of space to successfully design has a set of properties fit for 21st century living.

This development has a beautiful balance of delight and is obviously an uplifting and practical place to live. “
